could drive.

Four Rooms, Wichita Mountains,
Oklahoma

Dream Trip: Anywhere? With no
budget? I’d hit Fontainebleau, head
down to Rocklands, then over to
Castle Hill in New Zealand, and
back up to Australia. In the US
(traveling for at least a year):
I would start in the Southeast, head
up to Boone, NC, then on to the
Gunks, over to So. Ill., roll on west
RMNP, Mt. Evans, and Rifle -
continue to Utah, up to Squamish,
then back south to Yosemite, Bishop,
and Joshua Tree, through Arizona,
and then finally south to Hueco.
The Five Year Goal: To be living out
west and to have a job that allows
me maximum climbing time. I’d
also like to be in closer proximity to
good climbing.
The Insider:
Leslie is a motivator. Every time I call him in Alabama he’s inevitably psyched
about something new: be it a new area, a new problem, or even just a new
move he’s tweaked on a proj that weekend. During steamy Oklahoma summers
he would be psyched to roll out at five a.m. to hit up our projects as the mercury
slowly pushed its way to 100 plus degrees...every day. He would be psyched
when we’d skip the heat and head to the lake to row an inflatable dingy a
quarter mile through speedboat infested waters to hit up deepwater
soloing...every day. He’s the only person I know that will never turn down a
session no matter the conditions...every day. To Leslie, any weather, any rock,
any place, any time, is perfectly fine just to get out and climb...every day.
