Lani Adamson is shy-the kind of shy that makes you think maybe you're stepping on her toes as you talk to her, yet she's too nice to say anything-but bring up climbing and witness a different animal. Before I knew him as Andy Salo he was, "that kid that does one finger pull-ups on that overhanging mono or that kid that moves over talus like a wolverine." Salo was the first to show me that climbers, or in his case boulderers, can defy the most relevant theories of physics. To my amazement he would somehow levitate up the rock; ensnaring holds I thought too foul for humans to exploit.
