And you are? Tim Walsh, some guy thats always around
Years in operation: Seven months at our newest location
Nearest crags: Theres plenty of climbing in the Delaware Water Gap and Pennsylvania, but the Gunks in New Paltz, New York, is probably the best-known climbing.
Whats in it? The gym has more than 14,500 square feet of climbing terrain that peaks at 40 feet. Weve got an awesome 40-foot crack, stem chimney, big and small arch, and tons of lead climbing. We also have a great bouldering area with a huge topout section, a cool gear section, and a super-comfy lounge.
Standout feature: We paid special attention to our lead
climbing when helping design this gym, so we think its just as great as the huge prow in the bouldering section.
Any comps? We do our fair share of them! Keep your eye out for the Capital Region Schedule as well as other openformat comps.
Do you have a youth team? Weve got a great youth program with three climbing teams: intermediate, advanced, and competitive. Start paying attention to the results, because our team is crushing your team!
Anything else? We are thankful to have such great people involved in our facilities, from routesetters and coaches to team building and scout leaders. Weve learned to listen and do our best to offer the most complete indoor climbing experience for all.

The Local
Name: Joseph Petillo
Age: 27
Employment: Im an
electrical engineer for
the Department of Defense,
specifically in Small Arms Fire Control.
Years climbing: 1.5
Whats your favorite feature of the gym?
The best reason to climb there is because of
the staff. They are all very inviting, friendly,
and helpful.
When are the best sessions? The nights are
always more crowded than mornings, but
there are always people to climb with. You
never know what might be going on there on
any given night, from slacklining to an Ironman
palm pull-up contest to the 1,000-route
challenge.
Whos your favorite setter? All of them are
very distinct and original. They always impress
and surprise me. You see everything from extremely
balanced moves to very dynamic and
powerful sequences throughout the gym.
Inside info? After a long day of climbing, you can go to the Towne Tavern, just a turn away from the Vault. The menu is creative, the food is great, and they serve COLD beer.
Two words to describe the Vault: Exciting
and friendly.
