What's in the gym?
This gym is 65 feet high and has over 20,000 square feet of roped climbing, 2,500 square feet of bouldering, a lead climbing wall with 20 feet of overhang, a fitness area, a cave, a rappelling platform, a gear shop and a BAR!

Who designed the structures?
MAKAK designed the wall structures when we started in 1986. WALLTOPIA will build a 5,000 square foot climbing wall outside this summer. We are probably building it while you read this!

I've climbed in other gyms. Do I need to take a belay test?
When you are American, yes you do ;)

Can I just show up to take the test? Or do I need an appointment?
Just show up, no appointment necessary!

When does it get crowded?
Every day except Saturday and Sunday evenings

Any comps?
The A5 Series Boulder competition, which is sponsored by The North Face. It lasts for 8 months a year! Every month over 60 new boulder problems go up. And the competition ends with an annual bouldering contest in June. It's huge!

How old do I have to be?
6 years old.

Hours?
Give a call when you're in town for regular hours of operation. We also have a "flex-time service" which means: if somebody from personnel is present you can climb outside the regular opening hours.

When are the best sessions happening?
The first Friday of every month for the A5 bouldering competition is best. Also, Friday evenings in general are always good.

What's good about the gym?
A big bouldering area that gets changed frequently, the best lead climbing around, really nice overhung climbing and lots of easy sections for beginners.

What's bad about it?
Sometimes it's too busy, and you won't find free routes/boulders. It also gets really hot in the summer. The place can also be crazy with children and families during the day on the weekends.

Anyone gonna beat me up?
Only if you're an a#@hole. It's not really the Amsterdam way!
