Whenever classes get really intense, it is extremely hard to go anywhere else but the local climbing gym. It has been really hard for me to manage my time properly and have the necessary discipline to sit down and study on a Sunday morning when I have tons of options to climb and many climbers to climb with.

My friend, who is a freakishly strong climber, and I got on The Prune. It's a Seneca classic that's nice and easy: all gear and high exposure. It ended up that I led every pitch, since I happened to be the one with experience for that type of route. Every time he met me at a belay, he would have this look on his face that told me he was gripped, and after the crux pitch he just said, “thank God you led that.” We got to the summit and signed the register - his first one - then headed down. That was some of the most fun I have had climbing in a long time.

No More Greener Grasses at Mt. Evans.  I was very anxious to get the first ascent of this one because I knew it wouldn't remain a project for much longer.  I woke up at five in the morning, drove up there, warmed up, sent and video taped it all by myself.

All I know is: ...that my dog can run up to 30mph (I know because I've raced with my car)/...if you haven't made Hueco reservations for this year, you're already out of luck/...that climbing is not like other amazing things people are doing with their lives/...that I'll never make any real money from climbing so my motivations better be pure/...that some people won't get my humor in this article/...that my family is always there

Matthew Segal
All I know is:... climbing/... that climbing is just climbing and nothing else/... I don't know anything but sometimes I trick myself to think I know everything/... my story/... your story is just as interesting as mine

My life is: work, go on a climbing trip, work, go on a climbing trip.../ In a perfect world: we would all eat plant-based diets, drive veg-oil cars; reduce, reuse and recycle everything./ I get inspired by: beautiful places, good people, and fun movement./ My last road trip to: Hueco was in November through December. I built a road and a small camping area on my friend Ana's land.

Abbey Smith
My last road trip to: Squamish was blueberry pastry, espresso, forest frolicking, fresh caught fish, gelato, playground sessions, scrabble...repeat process./ I believe in: honesty, passion, commitment, creativity, myself and the boogieman./The last time I checked: I don't give a fuck.

Don't do it: 1. Chip holds 2. Lie 3. Forget to check you've tied-on properly 4. Climb plastic when you can climb rock 5. Lose motivation/ All I know is......that for me climbing is not sport, it's life...that there are so many projects and so little time...my van needs new tires...I can remember every move of every route I've ever done!

I woke up this morning and: the first thing to come into my head was the route I'm currently working on and giving me so much trouble!/ My life is: wonderfully free and disordered./ I get inspired by: happy and motivated people./ Will somebody please tell me why: I keep falling off the last move of this 'puta via'!

Honestly, there's not much I would change except hoping for universal respect from all climbers for the great outdoors. (JEEZ I sound like a Miss America contestant!) I think the majority of climbers are good at packing everything out and being conscientious of the environment by not littering, not trampling vegetation etc. and so on, but there are the rogue few who've trashed areas and give climbers a bad name. They either need to be educated or take up another sport,...like NASCAR. Not that there's anything wrong with NASCAR.

Johnny Goicoechea
I woke up this morning and: walked downstairs to Cookie [Mark Hobson] on the couch, Rob D'Anastasio asleep on the floor and Adam Stack asleep with a toothbrush in his pants./In a perfect world: climbing would be at the same status as golf./I believe in: biting off more than you can chew.
