Timy Fairfield will be offering a series of 5 climbing/training workshops at Seattle and Redmond Vertical World facilities November 18-20, 2008. Timy will be sharing training methods and insights gained from his experiences as a veteran professional rock climber of 18 years, foreign-trained world cup competitor, performance youth camp trainer, coaching consultant, international TV production level competition routesetter, climbing area developer and training fanatic. Participants will be eligible to win sponsor gear prizes.

Event #1: Morning Team Training Session

Host Facility: Seattle Vertical World

Enrollment minimum 8/maximum 12 participants
Tuition: $50
Level: Adult team program

Topics Covered: This clinic is suited to individuals who are engaged in training with a coach/personal trainer and focused on climbing as their primary sport for which they aim to achieve maximum performance on the rock and in masters/elite level competitions. The clinic will focus on high-paced, time-efficient workout routines, creative workout structuring, and balancing training with work and travel. Coach, Audrey Sniezek, will have influence over the clinic format.

Event #2: Intro to Climbing as Fitness

Level: Beginning/Intermediate

Topics Covered: This clinic is suited to climbers wishing to improve their abilities through learning more about climbing as a form of fitness. Participants will be introduced to climbing movement-based fitness exercises as well as the fundamentals of dynamic movement, rhythmic and decisive movement principles. The clinic will include: warm-up techniques, injury prevention, climbing movement technique drills, fundamentals of exercise biomechanics/form, creative workout structuring, balancing training with work and travel schedule.

Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Topics Covered: This clinic is suited to climbers wishing to improve their abilities through learning more about climbing as a form of fitness. Participants will be introduced to climbing movement-based fitness exercises. Also included will be the integration of fundamentals of dynamic movement, rhythmic and decisive movement principles. The clinic will include: warm-up techniques, injury prevention, climbing movement technique drills, fundamentals of exercise biomechanics/form, creative workout structuring, balancing training w/ work schedule & travel.

Event #4: ‘Type-A’ Morning Bird Training Techniques

Level: Advanced Regulars
Enrollment: minimum 8/maximum 12 participants
Tuition: $50

Topics Covered: Directed towards self-coached advanced level climbers, this clinic will benefit experienced individuals wishing to increase their climbing abilities through the structuring of a time-efficient training routine. Participants will be introduced to movement integrated fitness exercises and creative training alternatives for individuals experiencing plateaus due to limited training time. Ideal for the working professional.

Event #5: Advanced Training Techniques

Host Facility: Seattle Vertical World
Thursday, 11/20/08 5:30-9:30pm
Enrollment minimum 8/maximum 12 participants
Tuition: $80
Level: Experienced Advanced Climbers

Topics Covered: Targeted at advanced recreational climbers wishing to break a plateau, this clinic is appropriate for the serious self-coached climber with specific rock climbing objectives in mind. The goal is to infuse motivation into your training by enriching knowledge of sport specific training methodologies from other sports and how they apply to rock climbing/comp climbing. The clinic will include warm-up techniques/injury prevention, fundamentals of exercise biomechanics/form, supplemental sport-specific fitness & strength training, gymnastic strength, finger strength, power endurance and basics of periodization training for performance.

Timy Fairfield will also be present to offer private climbing lessons made available to attendees of these clinics during the following time slots:

Seattle Facility: Tuesday, Nov 18 9am-12pm/1-3pm
Redmond Facility: Thursday, Nov 20 9am-12pm
