Vertical Endeavors St. Paul is pleased to be hosting Oktboulderfest — a celebration of bouldering — on October 24th, 2009. Oktboulderfest will be our 2nd annual American Bouldering Series competition. Now in its 11th year, the American Bouldering Series has grown into the premiere competition format for climbers of all ages and abilities. I coached our Advanced Team at the National Championships last year in Boulder, CO and was able to see first-hand the incredible energy displayed. There were over 2,500 in attendance!

Building on the tremendous success of our annual Passion for Flashin’ competition, (16th year, 180+ competitors in 09’!) we hope to make Oktboulderfest one of the largest bouldering comps in the Midwest. Currently we have all of the volunteers, routesetters and exciting new holds that we need for a successful competition. You don’t have to be German, you don’t have to wear lederhosen (although you should) — you don’t even have to like Schweinsbraten. The only requirement — you MUST love to boulder.

Just like last year’s bouldering comp, we will have LOTS of free stuff from climbing companies to dish out in a superb raffle and enough coffee to drown yourself in the morning.

Oktboulderfest is sanctioned by USA Climbing and the American Bouldering Series (www.usaclimbing.org, ABS comps take place all over the country). With five youth and five adult categories, there will be plenty of options for everyone—of all abilities. Climbing competitions are all about having fun within the climbing community and challenging yourself, not about who walks away with the prize. Preregister today.
