The Neptune Mountaineering Horsetooth Hang is a non-profit rock climbing festival and trash clean up that will take place at the Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins on Saturday, September 27th, 2008. It is the second largest Adopt-A-Crag day in the nation and will have a “Wild West” theme this year, including some unique challenges, to bring a little more fun into an already excellent event. Other activities include stewardship contests, shoe demos, vendor booths, an enormous gear raffle, and slideshow from professional climbers Angie Payne and Jamie Emerson. Proceeds from the Hang are donated to Larimer County Parks and Open Lands, the Access Fund and the Northern Colorado Climbers Coalition. Any and all ages, abilities and style preferences are warmly welcomed. Rain date October 4.

The Meathook Bounty Reward

We are offering a $100 bounty for anyone that can catch an ascent of Jim Holloway's elusive problem Meathook during the Hang. Many strong climbers have sought this famous problem, but only one other person has been able to pull off an ascent. Come try your luck on a stout Horsetooth classic! A ton of sick strong climbers will be there during the day, so if you don't feel like throwing yourself at the problem, there will be plenty of great sports action for your viewing pleasure.

Finding The Hang and Getting Around

The Hang is held at two Horsetooth Reservoir climbing areas this year: Rotary Park (Including North Rotary) and The Piano Boulders, just outside of Fort Collins, Co. Event registration, vendor booths, and all competitor meetings, etc will be held at the Rotary Park parking lot. Parking at both climbing areas will be closed for the day for Hang participants, but there will be a speedy and free shuttle system to get you wherever you need to go. Limited parking will be reserved for spectators. Check out our Maps and Directions page to find out how to get to the shuttle parking area and Hodi's Half Note, our afterparty venue. Also, don't forget to pre-register to save time and money!
