IT'S TIME TO VOTE!
Thank you to all the filmmakers from around the world who submitted their films to the 2009 REEL ROCK FILMMAKING COMPETITION. We have received stacks of creative shorts and have selected our five favorites in two categories: HUMOR / SPOOF and ACTION / INSPIRATION. NOW it's time to vote for ONE film in each category.
International Rock Climbing Festival in Guamka, Russia
The Climbing Federation of Russia is happy to invite you to participate in the International Rock Climbing Festival on August 4-9, 2009, in Guamka, located in Russia's Krasnodar Region. 117 routes in 9 sectors have already been prepared and 20 new routes will be ready to the beginning of the Festival.
2009 Vaude Deutscher Bouldercup - Überlingen, Germany
The annual Deutscher Bouldercup, this year sponsored by the German companies Vaude and Edelrid, among others, was held in Überlingen, Germany on July 11, 2009. The outdoor competition saw some top bouldering competitors, including Kilian Fischhuber (an Austrian who wasn’t competing in an official capacity, for some reason) and the German Jonas Baumann, both of whom have won several World Cups.
2009 REEL ROCK FILMMAKING COMPETITION
The 2009 REEL ROCK Film Tour, presented by Sender Films and Big UP Productions is now accepting submissions for the 2009 REEL ROCK FILMMAKING COMPETITION. If you have a camera, computer, and a fresh idea, one of the short REEL ROCK ‘09 films could be yours! Submission deadline is July 20, 2009!
Timy Fairfield - Multi-Media Show, Training Workshop and Movement Clinic at Thresh Hold Gym
Don't miss Timy Fairfield at Thresh Hold Gym in Riverside, CA on July 15-16, 2009. Timy will give a Multi-Media Show, teach a Training Workshop and teach a Climbing Movement Clinic. Timy will be working with Thresh Hold Gym coaches and athletes to improve the team program by increasing effectiveness and stimulating interest in the training process.
Memorial Service for Jonny Copp, Micah Dash, and Wade Johnson
A memorial service celebrating the lives of Jonny Copp, Micah Dash, and Wade Johnson will be held this Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Boulder Theater (2032 14th Street), in Boulder, CO. Doors open at 1:00PM, service starts at 2:00 and will last until about 3:30.
2009 International Climbers' Festival
The International Climbers' Festival is back for a 16th straight year! The 2009 Festival will be held this July 8th - 12th in Lander, Wyoming. The ICF is a non-profit and is connected to three local Lander climbing initiatives: the Jim Ratz Memorial Scholarship, the Todd Skinner Foundation and BARF (the local Bolt and Anchor Replacement Fund).
The Tout a Blocs 2009
June 28-July 2, 2009 - L'Argentiere la Bessee and Ailefroide, Southeastern France - The event started out as a local comp and grew to a National Open, then to the French Championships in all categories and finally to a World Cup event. This year there will be 450 climbers over 3 days and over 2000 spectators at the finals!
HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation Holds Third Annual Colorado Climb4Life
The HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation will be holding its Third Annual Colorado Climb4Life in Friday, June 26 through Saturday, June 27, 2009. in Boulder. The event is hosted by REI Boulder, Colorado Mountain School and the Boulder Rock Club.
24 hours of Gunnison Glory
Join us this summer, June 26th to 28th, 2009, at Hartman Rocks (a granite area reminiscent of Joshua Tree) near Gunnison, Colorado, for an endurance competition sure to leave its mark on the psyche. Climbing in teams of 2, 4, or 6 you will race to send as much as possible on both cliffs and boulders for 24 hours. The event will also feature live music, poetry, yoga, and a presentation from Chad Jukes of Paradox Sports.

Designed for beginning to expert outdoor enthusiasts, this annual event is a weekend of exciting mountain activities, music, and more.
Wrangle in the Triangle
The Wrangle is back! Join the Raleigh area climbing community on June 20th at the Triangle Rock Club for the second annual Wrangle in the Triangle! The bouldering comp will have youth, beginner, intermediate, advanced and open divisions; cash prizes of course. Post comp festivities will include: food and drink (included with your entry) as well as showing of the new climbing movie “The Players”.
Rock Junior and the great game of climbing
The 8th Rock Junior competition on June 6-7, 2009, in Arco was a triumph of the game of climbing. Once again this is an unmissable event for youth climbing and for the hundreds of youngsters who, with their parents, assaulted the Climbing Stadium in Garda Trentino, Italy.

Tommy Caldwell benefit for Dash, Copp and Johnson - Estes Park - June 12, 2009
Tommy Caldwell is fundraising to help efforts to recover the bodies of Wade Johnson, 24, of Arden Hills, Minnesota and Jonny Copp, 35, of Boulder, Colo. from southwestern China. Micah Dash, 30, is still missing. The trio were attempting a climb of Mount Edgar in the Sichuan province of China.
The Access Fund Presents Telluride Mountainfilm's Zero Emissions Tour at The Boulder Theater
In June of 2009, Telluride Mountainfilm will embark on a new project: the Zero Emissions Tour, which is a 2,300 mile unsupported bike tour throughout Colorado, Wyoming & Utah. Join the Access Fund and be a part of this landmark tour at The Boulder Theater on June 10th at 8pm.
Rock Junior 2009: the European Youth Climbing Festival at Arco
The 8th Rock Junior will take place at Arco (Garda Trentino, Italy) on Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7, 2009. This great European climbing festival for young climbers is organised for the 8th year running by the Rock Master association.
The 2009 TEVA MOUNTAIN GAMES
The Vail Valley Foundation is proud to announce that the 8th annual Teva Mountain Games, the nation’s premiere outdoor adventure event, will take place June 4 7, 2009 in Vail, Colorado. In addition to our amateur climbing competitions, the IFSC Bouldering World Cup will be hosted once again at the 2009 Teva Mountain Games! The Foundation also announced the addition of a new half marathon within the mountain running portion of the games.
California Premiere of Rocky Mountain Highball - June 4, 2009
On June 4th, Scott Neel (the director) and Marmot Athlete Kevin Jorgeson will be hosting the California Premiere of Rocky Mountain Highball at the Rialto Theatre in Berkeley. This event is produced by the Yama Studio is presented by the American Alpine Club, Climbing Magazine, Urban Climber, Vertex Climbing Center, Marmot, and Berkeley's Marmot Mountain Works.
